Description:These houses were photographed about 1960 and would be standing somewhere about the site of St Thomas's School on Great Colmore Street. They were photographed as part of the urban renewal of the area in the sixties. Number 56 was the home of the MacNaught's who were famous for having the most children in one family group.
Joan Brady writes that: "My Grandma's family - the Gibbs family - lived at 55 Great Colmore Street, next door to the McNaughts, for many years until demolition, and I used to play with Jane McNaught, who was about the same age as me. After that an Aunt and Uncle went to live in Rickman Drive: I later lived there myself for a few years with my parents".
In the attached streaming audio clip residents Fred and Pat Meads remember Great Colmore Street and the MacNaughts.
