Description:This statue of Sir Claude Auchinleck was commissioned and paid for by the Murrayfield Real Estate Company Ltd., the developers of Five Ways Shopping Centre. It is believed that Auchinleck sat for a bust, the rest being taken from photographs.

The Field Marshall, a distinguished officer in the First and Second World Wars, had been the chairman of Murrayfield's since 1958. It was the idea of the Managing Director, who had served under Auchinleck in the desert war, to erect the statue and name the piazza after him. This is the only known statue of Auchinleck. It was unveiled on April 27th 1965 and is credited to Fiore De Henriques.
