Description:The city’s other Jewish cemeteries had disappeared with the development of the railways. The Froggery cemetery was sold for £260 in 1849 when Birmingham New Street Station was built, and Granville Street cemetery disappeared under the Harborne line.
This cemetery on Islington Row was acquired in 1823 and was used for burials until the 1870s. Today it is dis-used and the bodies have long since been removed to Witton Cemetery.
The photograph was taken by William Archer Clark for the Warwickshire Photographic Survey.
