Description:This photograph of the Entrance Hall at Soho House was taken by Birmingham photographers Lewis and Randall in 1927. By this date Soho House, the former home of industrialist and entrepreneur Matthew Boulton (1728-1809) was in use as a hotel. The passageway to the right of the photograph was added around 1927 to provide access to the former Drawing Room then in use as the hotel dining room. The route had been through the former Breakfast Room which was the owners family's private sitting room. The passageway was blocked up when the house was in use as a hostel for single policemen. The arched alcove which the passageway had cut into was reinstated at the same time.
