Date:1806 - 1810 (c.)
Description:This meteorology book covers the years 1806 to 1810, page by page. This is one of a series of notebooks that record in minute detail the daily weather conditions at Soho Manufactory. They were mostly compiled by the Drawing Office staff. Typically the books record the barometer reading, temperature, hygrometer reading, wind direction and speed and cloud cover at 8am, 2pm and 8pm, along with a general comment on the day's weather and a mention of any unusual phenomena, storms, whether the rain was heavy, and so on. Quite why such detailed records were made is not known, but William Creighton, who worked in the Drawing Office and was its head from 1815, was very interested in geology and natural history. This volume is part of the Archives of Soho, held at Birmingham City Archives [Ref. MS3147/9/39]
