Description:This memorandum sets out the wages and livery for male servants at Soho House. By this date Soho House was the home of Matthew Robinson Boulton and his young family.

William Newbold the Coachman who started on 22nd May 1819 was paid £26 5/- per year. He was allowed 2 livery coats, 2 waistcoats, 2 pairs of breeches, 2 pairs of boots, 2 hats, a stable jacket, a pair of overalls and a great coat every 2 years. He had his last suit of livery in May 1821 and his last great coat in November 1820.

James Miles the Footman received 18 guineas per year with 2 guineas gratuity from 6th March 1821. He received 3 liveries every eighteen months but it was up to Mr Boulton to decide how may would be dress liveries and how many plain. The dress livery consisted of a dress coat with waistcoat and breeches of yellow plush. The common livery was a jacket with striped cotton waistcoat and a pair of plush breeches. He was also to receive 3 cotton dressing jackets every 2 years and 2 hats every 3 years unless there was a considerable amount of travelling in which case this was to increase to 2 hats every 2 years. He also received 1 Great coat and 1 pair of boots every 2 years.

James Pendleton the Groom received 7 guineas per year from 16 May 1821. His clothing allowance was a jacket and overall trousers, coat, waistcoat and breeches.
