Description:A newspaper cutting from the "Handsworth
News", 14th May 1887.

This gives an account of the case against Maud Smith of Ladywood, who was accused of stealing boots and clothing from several small children in Aston and Handsworth.It was said that she took the clothing from the children then obtained money for them at a pawnbrokers.
She was found guilty and sentenced to three months imprisonment with hard labour.
