Description:Outlines the brief history of Saint James Church and is taken from the programme of the Saint James Church Fancy Fair November 20th to 23rd 1929

1837 - decision to erect Chapel of Ease to the Old Parish Church.

24th April 1838- foundation Stone was laid by the wife of Rev. Dr. John Peel, Dean of Worcester.

1839- church was consecrated by Bishop Blowstead.

1848 - Thieves entered the Vestry, took the safe and the Registers.

1856 - it became a Parish church.
Renovated in 1878 with a new organ installed.
