Description:The 1918 General Election was held on December 14th and had extra importance due to the recent cease of hostilities in Europe. The economy had obviously been affected by the war, men were returning home to uncertain futures and there were many other socio-economic issues which all of the candidates had to address.

Ernest Claude Meysey-Thompson (Coalition Unionist)
Norman Tiptaft (Coalition Independent)
Henry Joseph Odell (Labour)
Meysey-Thompson was the sitting MP and unfortunately none of his publicity material is in the Library collection. He would though have produced material similar to his rivals, especially the Independent candidate Norman Tiptaft.
