Description:This miniature showns Mary Anne Wilkinson as a young girl. She was the daughter of William Wilkinson and the niece of John Wilkinson, the ironmaster.

She married Matthew Robinson Boulton, the son of Matthew Boulton in 1817. They lived mainly at Soho House, spending some time at Great Tew in Oxfordshire, the estate Matthew Robinson Boulton had bought in 1815. Mary Anne had seven children, dying on 7 June 1829 following the birth of the seventh.

This was described by William Garland who worked at Soho:

"This event cast a gloom over the Parish. The [Soho] Works were closed till after the funeral, which took place on Tuesday the 16th at Handsworth Church and was interred in a vault in the Church. There were 8 Mourning Coaches and 16 Private Carriages with Hearse and 6. The road along the route was lined with spectators and such a funeral procession had not been seen for several years before."
