Description:William Sharp was a local magistrate who also served on the governing body of the General Hospital. The painting on which this engraving is based was paid for by subscribers as a tribute to Sharp's work on the hospital committee. He lived at Endwood Court.

Engraved by J Stephenson after the original portrait by Henry Turner Munns. Munns was a Birmingham portrait painter who exhibited in London and Birmingham. His work was mostly portraits, some landscapes, coastal scenes and genre subjects. In 1868 he was elected a member of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists.
