Description:The houses on the Leveretts estate, which were built as a council estate in 1969. The majority of properties are now privately owned. The area is mainly grass land, open space. One of the beautiful untouched, unspoiled, pieces of land you will find in Handsworth. You can walk for miles up here. St John Wall School is built within the area. As part of their PE lessons they would use the grassland to do cross country running and use the other facilities here also. There is a football pitch, lake, and remains of an anti aircraft gun emplacement. Two nearby golf courses, including Handsworth, Sandwell Golf courses and the path that takes you to The Monastery in West Bromwich, Sandwell Valley Park and farm. The walk takes about 45 minutes to an hour. You pass a bridge that overlooks the M6 motorway. As children we used to visit relatives and spend the whole day up there. Walking, picnicking, playing, just having a good time. During the summer it is a very busy area. In August Sandwell holds the Horticultural Show and many people walk to Sandwell Valley through this route.
