Aug 18/1940

Sirens sounded at 22.44/45 hrs.
Very dark night.
Wardens again on the alert having previously heard plane and observed searchlights.
No incidents.
Oxhill Rd (50) Island Rd (25). No remarks
All clear at 00.45. Plane heard over and sound of Bombs: Informed shelters to hold people. Rang Head Warden 00.50 and received purple message. Informed wardens.

Key message “white” at 00.58 hrs:
Wardens out (S1.) 6F1R (S2) 6F (S3) 6F1R 1P (S4) 5F 1R 1P. On post 4 me G.W. & Dep GW. total 33. Dismissed personnel & Shelter Wardens.
