Description:Section of blowing engine for Don Diego Gardoqui, Cadiz, Spain, 1793.

Boulton & Watt continued to supply engines for blast furnaces during the 1790s. This drawing shows the first of two blowing engines ordered by Don Diego Gardoqui through the merchant house of Fermin de Tastet & Co. The engine powered six separate furnaces which were arranged around a central air vault which was fed by the blowing cylinder. The engine had a cylinder of 34 inches in diameter, and was approximately 50 horses in power.
