Description:16 horse crank engine for Sarah Dunkerley, Mumps Brook, Oldham, Lancashire, December 1798.

A few of Boulton & Watt’s engine customers were women. This engine was ordered by Joseph Dunkerley, for his cotton mill at Mumps Brook, in Oldham, but he died before the order could be completed. His wife Sarah took over the mill and the agreement with Boulton & Watt.
