The renowned potter Josiah Wedgwood, who was a member of the Lunar Society alongside Matthew Boulton and James Watt, was a keen advocate of steam power. These drawings show a 'sun & planet' engine for powering various items of machinery at his Etruria factory. The engine is shown with a 22 inch cylinder and a single link motion connecting the piston rod to the beam.
