Description:Top view of the beam of the pumping engine for the Coalbrookdale Company, Shropshire.

This massive engine, with a 66 inch cylinder, was built for Joseph Rathbone & Co., better known as the Coalbrookdale Co. The Coalbrookdale Co. were one of the most important iron founders of the early Industrial Revolution.

This drawing is part of the Archives of Soho collection, which is held by Birmingham City Archives [Ref. MS3147/Portfolio/5/547]
