Description:Reverse plan and section and outside view of the beam of engine for the Hallamanin Mine, Cornwall.

Cornwall continued to be a major market for Boulton & Watt during the 1780s, and they supplied larger and ever more powerful engines as the mines went deeper. This was a single-acting engine with a 63 inch cylinder, made for Hallamanin Mine in 1786. However it did not stay there long, as it moved to Wheal Ramoth in December of the same year. In 1798 it moved again, to Herland Mine. Note that the lines of the drawing are somewhat blurred, due to the clerk in the Drawing Office doing a poor job with the copying press.

This drawing is part of the Archives of Soho collection, which is held by Birmingham City Archives [Ref. MS3147/Portfolio/5/1307]
