Description:Reverse outside front view of engine for Wheal Fortune Copper Mine, Cornwall.
Cornwall continued to be a major market for Boulton & Watt during the 1780s, and they supplied larger and ever more powerful engines as the mines went deeper. The outside front view shows the particularly complex arrangement of pump beams or “bobs” that the engine worked. This was a powerful double-acting engine with a 5 inch cylinder.
