Description:"Judy Simpson was a successful athlete, winning gold, silver and bronze medals in the Commonwealth Games heptathlon. She also gained bronze in the European Championships setting a British record. In 1984 she came 5th in the Olympics and would have been among the favourites for a medal in 1988 had injury not forced her withdrawal. Simpson went on to achieve television fame as 'Nightshade' in the series Gladiators. She is also the former presenter of her own radio show for BBC Radio WM, England. I would later produce and direct a documentary on Judy's extraordinary life for 'Respect' a series on black sporting personalities for Carlton TV." Pogus Caesar, February 2003
