Description:In July 1913 Prime Minister Asquith came to Birmingham to speak at Bingley Hall. Suffragettes incensed at his lack of activity in the field of Women's Suffrage smashed windows of the hall as he spoke. As a result six women were arrested and imprisoned in Winson Green Women's Prison. The women went on hunger strike. This article from the Handsworth Herald describes a protest by suffragettes outside the prison.
