Description:This article, taken from the Handsworth Herald describes a suspected suffragette arson attack on the boathouse in Handsworth Park. In 1913 the Women's Social and Political Union (the 'militant' Suffragettes) mounted a campaign of widespread arson. Included in their targets were male dominated sports facilities.
