Description:Many African Caribbean families were unable to take annual one or two week holidays away from Birmingham, as a lot of white people did. Often people were saving up for a trip back to the Caribbean, or just did not have the time or money. Group day trips to seaside resorts were organised as a break for children, young people and families. Curry Goat and Rice would be prepared and transported and after the seaside trip there would be a party at a prearranged pub or club. A large saucepan of curry did not always survive the summer heat.
