Description:"Clare Short was still in Birmingham at the time of the disturbances and visited Handsworth with Cllr Phil Murphy. In the 1970's Short was heavily involved in setting up regular immigrant advice sessions in Handsworth. She went on to become Secretary of State for International Development, whose main interests are overseas development and employment equality. Cllr Murphy has been actively involved in cultural politics within Birmingham." Pogus Caesar, February 2003
