Date:2nd of March 1871

Description:A newscutting from the Birmingham Post reporting the case of two tradesmen Mr Heath and Mr Burton who sued the London and North-Western Railway Company for nine shillings. They had been waiting for a train at Walsall but when it arrived it could not hold all the passengers. They were offered the option to travel via Dudley Port but declined and took a cab, suing the company for the cost. However as the company by-laws stated that passengers booking at intermediate stations would only be carried if there was room in the train the judge found for the company.

From the G.H. Osborne collection of newscuttings.
