Date:1887

Description:A newspaper cutting from the Birmingham Mail January 29th 1887.
This cutting gives an account of the inquest into the death of George Marsh Jones of Wellington Road, Perry Barr.
Mr Jones worked as a dispenser at the Childrens Hospital in Steelhouse Lane.
The jury found that the "deceased died from suffocation caused by inhaling chloroform, but whether it was to destroy life or to relieve pain that he inhaled it there was not sufficent evidence to show".

This cutting reports the Coroner being sure that one witness, Miss Richardson was holding something back. Another cutting also available on this site is a letter from a Robert Bragge in Miss Richardson's defence maintaining that she is a 'thoroughly upright and good girl'.
