Description:The Lodge is still standing at the time of writing. There was originally also a house on the site but this was demolished in 1900, although the ice-house survived till 1951. One famous visitor was Oliver Cromwell, said to have stopped at the house on his way to the seige of Dudley Castle. The name Brownes Green dates back to 1538 when one Roger Browne held a croft on the site.
