Description:This photograph of a Hansom cab was taken outside the Laurels School at the corner of Handsworth Wood Road and Wood Lane.

The Laurels had been known as Hunts Green in the late eighteenth century. It later became an Infants School run by Miss Kathleen Lowe who was the daughter of T.C. Lowe who ran Browne's Green School.

The school was continued by a Mrs Rowley until 1961 when it was sold by auction and later demolished for development.
