Description:Browne's Green lodge looking back towards Handsworth Wood Road.

This was the lodge to Browne's Green House which was probably built around 1800 by Mr Nathaniel Clarke KC. Subsequent occupiers included James T Chance of Chance's Glass. Towards the end of the nineteenth century the house became a school, later changing name to Hamstead Hill School. It was demolished around 1900.
