Date:1937

Description:This photograph is a rear view of the Friary, taken in 1937, shortly before the house was demolished. The building and its lands, including the four acre paddock at the front of the house, were sold and became part of the Grestone development. The Friary had originally been built as a farmhouse in 1658 but by 1700 it had been greatly extended into a gentleman's residence. Later alterations were made around 1780 by the Freer family who were resident at that time. The black and white half timbered effect was added after 1906.
