Description:Old toll-gate, Birchfield Road, Perry Barr, as it would have appeared in 1870 (from a 1954 illustration). The gate was erected in 1830 when the turnpike road was opened from Perry Barr to the Old Walsall Road at Great Barr. The public house on the left is the Old Crown & Cushion.
