Description:Sapper 2144260 F. Whitehouse (born 1917) is released on 30th June 1946. He served with the Royal Engineers. Inside the record of war credits, Fred's Release Book shows he collected War Credits from Gooch St Post Office, in August and September 1946. There is a discrepancy between the date of Frederick’s medical (Nov ’39), and enlistment (Feb ’41). This was because Fred was retained for government work at Elkington’s, a factory in Newhall Street. When it was bombed, Fred was called up. He went on to serve with Monty’s army in India and Africa working on the railways there. His records here say:
Military Conduct: Exemplary, Testimonial: A Steady man who works hard and well in his job.
