Description:A typical terrace development: Hagley villas off Taunton Road dating from the 1890s. This part of Balsall Heath was one of the last areas to be developed. It was part of the estate of John Gregory Watkins who died at his home, Woodfield House, Ombersley, near Worcester in 1890. The pattern of housing around Roshven Road was a densely packed maze of side avenues which ensured a good return on the investment. However the houses here are also noted for their attractive decorative features.
