Date:1890

Description:A newspaper cutting from the "Handsworth Herald", 21st June 1890.
A short article giving an account of a prize fight that took place in a field near to where the G.W.R and L. and N.W.R. railway lines crossed, in the area of Handsworth New Road. Approximately 200 people had gathered to watch the fight and the author suggested that this spot had been chosen as it was at the boundary of two counties and this would allow a move into the next county should the police arrive.
