Description:Lieutenant George Philip Lempriere of Handsworth was famous throughout Great Britain and Europe for his balloon ascents and parachute descents. He is recognisable as a Jules Verne "Phileas Fogg" personality but equally he was ahead of his time with many of his ideas and the execution of them. This exhibition looks at aspects of Lempriere's career through material held in the Archives Department of Central Library.
