Description:Views of the engine framing.
This was a typical 'sun & planet' engine, applied to mine winding. It was ordered for Ecton copper mine in Derbyshire. The mine was owned by the Duke of Devonshire, and lay 12 miles south west of his estate at Chatsworth. The engine was of 8 horses power, with a 16 inch cylinder and 4 foot stroke. The piston rod was linked to the beam using James Watt’s parallel motion. [Scale: 1/3 of an inch to the foot]
