Description:Reverse general section of blowing engine for Donnington Wood, Shropshire.

As with pumping engines, Boulton & Watt’s orders for blowing engines for blast furnaces increased in the 1780s, and the engines got larger and more powerful. This example was for the Donnington Wood Forge in Shropshire. It was a single-acting engine with a 48 inch cylinder. The large blowing cylinder is to the left of the engine.
