Description:Section of pumping engine house and sections of the boiler, for the 'Ale & Cakes Mine' Cornwall.

Ale & Cakes Mine was part of the group of Cornish mines known as United Mines. This single-acting pumping engine had a 58 inch cylinder and an 8 foot stroke. The drawing shows a section through the back of the engine house with an external view of the cylinder and the steam pipes connecting it to the boiler, and also a cross-section of the boiler.

This drawing is part of the Archives of Soho collection, which is held by Birmingham City Archives [Ref. MS3147/Portfolio/5/1293]
